Okay so I found a job advertised in the paper and couldn't believe how perfect it was for me. They were asking for someone with experience in finance, retail and hospitality ...tick.
They wanted someone with a strong interest in craft... tick.
It's 3 mins walk from my house and it's part time!!
So I phoned up for details, spent hours rewriting my CV and a suitably impressive covering letter. Then Tuesday evening received an email inviting me for an interview. Spent the next 36hrs swotting up on every aspect of the long list of essential knowledge, skills and experience to make sure I was prepared for every possible question.
Then this morning had my interview. It was a panel of 3 and I was doing okay then bang, the grumpy gentleman on the panel asked me about OSCAR? Who the hell is Oscar? Apparently it's some regulatory body to do with charities that applicants were supposed to know about!!
Okay so where in the list of requirements did it mention this?? NOWHERE!!
Am feeling completely pissed about the whole thing as I received a phone call this evening saying surprise surprise I hadn't got the job because they needed someone with OSCAR experience.
If they'd mentioned it in the job description I probably wouldn't have applied or at least would have looked it up on the internet instead of being made to look like a complete twat..
Okay sorry about that but just needed to vent.

Oh sorry to hear that, it was sounding perfect.
I'm a strong believer that things happen for a reason, something else must be lined up for you. Don't let it get you down and don't give up!
Pfffffftttt to the grumpy old sod too!!
Kandi xx
Balls! And Double Balls ~ preferably Oscars Balls!
What a stupid thing for them not to put it as a requirement if it was an essential part of the job! It really annoys me as it can easily knock an applicants confidence! xx
:( Shame the ad wasn't clearer.
Never heard of OSCAR - off to google!
Oh no! What a bugger. YOU didn't look like a twat, lovely, they did for not making it clear in their job description. If it was an essential requirement, they should have made it clear.
As Kandi has already said, things happen for a reason and your perfect job is just around the corner. xxx
I agree with Kandi about things happening for a reason. But still, how damned annoying! I didn't get a job a couple of years ago as the lady who interviewed me was aware I'd had depression over twenty years ago and thought working by myself wouldn't be right for me! Huh? But I got a much better job after that, so there! Fingers crossed for the future for you xxx
Yeah right, everything happens for a reason :)

mmmmmm, as you didn't get the job how about a sweet (not overly sarcastic) little note to them saying that despite the fact you were suited to the position , the fact that they forgot to mention the most important prerequisite (now there's a big word!) required, it would seem the person compiling the advertisement is possibly more suited to another position. Twats, I think you had a lucky break hun xx
Sorry to hear about that, it does seem quite unfair for them not to have mentioned it in the job description. Don't let it upset you, it's their fault for not mentioning it beforehand. Fingers crossed something better comes along! :) x
vent away, my blood is boiling for you, as if this job seeking lark is not hard enough... keep up your good work tho, very impressive,
